THE NOT COMMANDMENTS--PART II
SERMON TITLE: FEAR NOT
SERMON THEME: BEING FEARLESS IN THE FACE OF FEAR
SERMON TEXT: MATTHEW 10:28-31

THE "NOT" COMMANDMENTS ARE MORE ABOUT YOUR  ATTITUDE, THINKING, AND PERSPECTIVE.
JOSHUA 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

ISAIAH 41:13
13 For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear;  I will help you.

I) OWN THE FACT THAT YOU ARE FEARFUL
LUKE 10:1;3
1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.

Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves

ISAIAH 41:10
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

II) LET JESUS TAME YOUR FEARS
MATTHEW 10:28-31
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[a30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

MATTHEW 8:23-27
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

MATTHEW 14:22-27
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

III) THE FEAR NOT COMMAND WILL CHANGE YOUR WORLD
JOHN 14:27
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

JOHN 11:25-26
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

CONCLUSION: FEAR NOT,  NOT BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR, BUT BECAUSE JESUS IS WITH YOU.

I THESSALONIANS 4:13-14
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
