THE NOT COMMANDMENT --PART VII
SERMON TITLE: STORE NOT
SERMON THEME: WHERE YOUR HEART IS
SERMON TEXT: MATTHEW 6:19-21

HOW CAN YOU  BUILD A LIFE OF VALUE?

MATTHEW 6:19-20
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

I TIMOTHY 4:4-5
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

THREE ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE TO NOT STORE UP ON EARTH

I) INVEST GOD'S MONEY IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
LUKE 13:33-34
33 In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!
34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

MATTHEW 6:21
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

II) SEE GOD'S MONEY WITH THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE

MATTHEW 6:22-23

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

PROVEBS 23:6
Do not eat the food of a begrudging host, do not crave his delicacies;
MATTHEW 5:15a;16
15a Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

III) SERVE GOD BY SUBMITTING TO HIS POWER
MATTHEW 6:24
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

PROVERBS 3:9-10
Honor the Lord with your wealth,
    with the first fruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
    and your vats will brim over with new wine.

 I TIMOTHY 6:9-10
Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
CONCLUSION: THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NOT A PLACE, BUT A LIFE UNDER THE REIGN OF GOD.
