HE CHOSE THE NAILS--PART II
SERMON TITLE: I CHOSE TO FORGIVE YOU
SERMON THEME: WHAT'S IN A NAIL?
SERMON TEXT: COLOSSIANS 2:13-14

INTRODUCTION: HOW FOUR NAILS FOREVER CHANGE HOW GOD MINISTERS
TO A LOST AND DYING WORLD.

ROMANS 2:22-24
22 You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24 As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

I PETER 2:24
24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

FOUR NAILS THAT IMPACTED WORLD

I) TWO NAILS FOR FORGIVENESS.

COLOSSIANS 2:13-14
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you[a] alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

EPHESIANS 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

II) ONE NAIL FOR A CHOICE.

LUKE 23:42-43
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

III) ONE NAIL FOR A KING.

JOHN 19:19-22
19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews. 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”
22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

PSALM 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

JOHN 10:27-28
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

CONCLUSION: THE NAILS IN THE CROSS SHOW YOU THE LENGTHS GOD WILL GO TO COVER YOUR SINS AND RESTORE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.

COLOSSIANS 1:19-22
19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[a] your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—111111111
