HE CHOSE THE NAILS--PART IV

SERMON TITLE: GIVE ME YOUR TRUST

SERMON THEME: ONCE AND FOR ALL TIME

SERMON TEXT: HEBREWS 4:15-16

INTRODUCTION: WATER IS IMPORTANT IN THE PHYSICAL WORLD AND IN

THE SPIRITUAL WORLD.

JOHN 19:28-30

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

GOD KNEW WHEN ALL DOUBT WAS REMOVED THAT YOU COULD PUT YOUR FAITH IN HIM.

I) JESUS IS A TRUSTED SAVIOR

PSALM 9:10

Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

1) JESUS WANTS YOU TO TRUST HIM?

MARK 15:22-24

22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

2) WE ALL NEED SOMEONE TO TRUST!

HEBREWS 4:15-16

15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

II) JESUS IS A REDEEMING SAVIOR

HEBREWS 10:14

14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

1) GOD'S WORK FOR US

HEBREWS 9:11-12

11 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining[b] eternal redemption.

2) GOD'S WORK IN US

JOHN 7:38-39

11 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here,[a] he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining[b] eternal redemption.

·         THE BLOOD IS GOD'S SACRIFICE FOR YOU, AND THE WATER IS

GOD'S SPIRIT IN YOU.

JOHN 19:34

34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

CONCLUSION: JESUS ALLOWS YOUR MISTAKES TO BE LOST IN HIS PERFECTION.

JOHN 1:29

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
