THE
ATTRIBUTES OF GOD--PART II
SERMON
TITLE: CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT WORRY?
SERMON
THEME: GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY
INTRODUCTION: WHAT WE WORRY ABOUT THE MOST OFTEN REVEALS
WHERE WE TRUST GOD THE LEAST.
JOB
19:25
I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the
end he will stand on the earth.
MATTHEW
6:25-27
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life
more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not
sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds
them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single
hour to your life?

IT EMPTIES TODAY OF IT'S STRENGTH." Corrie Ten Boom
QUESTION: CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT WORRY?
FOUNDATIONAL
ANSWER: IS GOD TRUSTWORTHY?
PSALM
62:7-8
My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my
mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out
your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.
·
GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT HE DOES, BUT BECAUSE WHO GOD
IS.
THREE REASONS WE CAN KNOW GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY
I) GOD HAS BEEN
FAITHFUL YESTERDAY.
EXODUS
13:3
3 Then Moses said to the
people, “Commemorate this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the
land of slavery, because the Lord brought you out of it
with a mighty hand. Eat nothing containing yeast.
·
IF GOD HAS DONE IT
BEFORE, GOD CAN DO IT AGAIN.
II) GOD IS FAITHFUL
TODAY.
NUMBERS
14:9
9 Only do not
rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the
land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is
with us. Do not be afraid of them.”
·
GOD IS
TRUSTWORTHY TODAY, NOT
BECAUSE OF THE ABSENCE OF PROBLEMS, BUT
BECAUSE OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
MATTHEW
1:23; 28:20
“The virgin will conceive
and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God
with us”).
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
III) GOD WILL BE
FAITHFUL TOMORROW.
NUMBERS
13:1-2
The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Send some men to explore the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral
tribe send one of its leaders.”
·
TRUST IS NOT
SOMETHING YOU HAVE; TRUST IS SOMETHING YOU DO.
MATTHEW
6:26
Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do
they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye
not much better than they?
·
TRUSTING GOD DOES
NOT MEAN YOU ARE LAZY OR INDIFFERENT. IT MEANS YOU ARE TRUSTING THAT GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY
AND HE CARES FOR YOU.
REVELATION
21:3-5
3 And I heard a loud voice
from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people,
and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will
be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe
every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the
throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this
down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
·
FOCUS ON WHAT IS ETERNAL RATHER THAN THAT WHICH IS TEMPORARY.
CONCLUSION: DO NOT WORRY
ABOUT TOMORROW, FOR TOMORROW WILL WORRY
ABOUT ITSELF. EACH DAY HAS TROUBLE ENOUGH
OF ITS OWN (Matthew 6:34)
JOHN
14:1
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in
God[a]; believe
also in me.
