SERMON TITLE: THE EARTH IS FULL OF HIS GLORY

INTRODUCTION: THE HOLINESS OF GOD IS THE ESSENCE OF HIS CHARACTER

AND BEING.

· THE ATTRIBUTE OF GOD THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO HEAR, MAY BE THE ATTRIBUTE OF GOD THAT YOU NEED THE MOST.

PSALM 24:3-5

³ Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
⁴ The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.

⁵ They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior.

· TO BE HOLY IS TO BE UNIQUE AND SEPARATE FROM ALL THINGS CREATED BOTH SEEN AND UNSEEN.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE HOLINESS OF GOD

I) WHEN YOU SEE GOD; YOU WILL KNOW WHO IS THE TRUE KING.

ISAIAH 6:1-4

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. ² Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. ³ And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

⁴ At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

· HOLINESS IS THE ONLY ATTRIBUTE OF GOD IN ALL OF SCRIPTURE THAT IS MENTIONED THREE CONSECUTIVE TIMES.

EXODUS 15:11

Who among the gods is like you, Lord?
Who is like you—majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory, working wonders?

· GOD IS SELF EVIDENT, SELF SUSTAINING, SELF SUFFICIENT

II) WHEN YOU SEE GOD; YOU WILL SEE YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE.

ISAIAH 6:5-7

⁵ “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” ⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. ⁷ With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

THREE THINGS HAPPEN

· YOU ARE CONVICTED OF YOUR SIN.

· YOU WILL CONFESS YOUR SIN.

I JOHN 1:9

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

· YOU ARE CLEANSED FROM YOUR SIN.

ROMANS 5:8

⁸ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

· IT IS ONLY WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND THE HOLINESS OF GOD WILL YOU UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH OF YOUR SIN. Billy Graham.

III) WHEN YOU SEE GOD; YOU WILL REALIZE WHAT YOU MUST DO.

ISAIAH 6:8

⁸ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

· BECAUSE GOD IS HOLY, YOU CAN TRUST HIM.

PSALM 35:10

My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, Lord?
You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.”

· GOD DID NOT COME FOR THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT HE CAME FOR THOSE WITH UNCLEAN LIPS.

· GOD DID NOT COME FOR THE HOLY, BUT HE CAME FOR THE UNHOLY.

· GOD DID NOT COME FOR THE HEALTHY, BUT HE CAME FOR THE SICK.

CONCLUSION: A VISION OF GOD WILL LEAD TO A MISSION FOR GOD.

ISAIAH 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

· WHEN YOU EXPERIENCE THE HOLINESS OF GOD, IT WILL STIR YOU, IT WILL SHAKE YOU, YOU WILL WANT TO FALL ON YOUR KNEES IN REPENTANCE AND WORSHIP GOD.

STAND AND SING

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
