WHAT CHANGE DO YOU NEED TO MAKE?--PART IV

SERMON TITLE: IT MATTERS ABOUT TOMORROW

SERMON THEME: CHANGE HOW YOU LIVE

INTRODUCTION: ARE YOU REACHING YOUR FULL POTENTIALAS A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?

PROVERBS 21:20

The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.

·         WHEN YOU RECOGNIZE THAT TOMORROW MATTERS IT WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU LIVE TODAY.

PROVERBS 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.

·         USE YOUR ABILITIES TO MATCH YOUR OPPORTUNITIES SO THAT YOU MIGHT EXCERCISE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GLORIFY GOD.

WHY TOMORROW MATERS

I) TOMORROW MATTERS BECAUSE YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE.

MATTHEW 25:14-18

14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,[a] each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

·         YOUR TALENTS REPRESENT OPPORTUNITES TO USE YOUR GOD GIVEN ABILITIES FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.

MATTHEW 25:19-25

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

·         IT IS NOT WHAT YOU HAVE THAT MATTERS TO GOD, IT IS WHAT YOU DO WITH WHAT YOU HAVE THAT MATTERS TO GOD.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

II) TOMORROW MATTERS BECAUSE OF HOW YOU SEE GOD.

MATTHEW 25:26-27

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

·         HOW YOU SEE GOD WILL AFFECT YOUR ABILITY TO STEP OUT IN FAITH.

ROMANS 8:28

10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

·         YOU SHOULD EXPECT GREAT THINGS FROM GOD, AND YOU SHOULD ATTEMPT GREAT THINGS FOR GOD.

III) TOMORROW MATTERS BECAUSE YOUR LIFE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

MATTHEW 25:28

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

·         WHATEVER YOU DO FOR GOD NOW WILL REAP AN ETERNAL REWARD, BUT WHATEVER YOU DO NOT DO FOR GOD NOW WILL BE LOST FOREVER.

EPHESIANS 2:8-10

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

·         NO TALENT IS TOO SMALL, AND NO TASK TOO TRIVIAL IF USED FOR THE KINGDOM AND GLORY OF GOD.

CONCLUSION: GOD WANTS YOU TO BE FAITHFUL WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, AND FAITHFUL WITH WHERE YOU ARE.

LUKE 16:10

10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
